(ddp direct) Mit Auslieferung des High-Speed-Systems-on-Module hatte Variscite bereits den Markt aufgemischt. Es war das erste SoM, das auf dem intelligentem OMAP4460 (OMAP 4) Multicore-Prozessor von TI mit Dual ARM(R) Cortex(tm)-A9 MPCores basierte und bis zu je 1,5 GHz erreicht. Jetzt hat die Firma die Latte noch wesentlich höher gelegt: Sie unterstützt als bisher erster System-on-Module-Anbieter und einer der ersten ODMs Androids neues Ice Cream Sandwich-Release.
Der Android-4-fähige VAR-SOM-OM44 wurde strategisch klug weit vor der Verfügbarkeit der meisten Android-Smartphones und Tablet-PCs eingeführt: Damit sollte für die Variscite-Kunden ein klarer Wettbewerbsvorsprung und der Luxus effektiver und zügiger Konstruktion und Entwicklung von einer Reihe von Anwendungen und Formaten gesichert werden.
